What I love about my new house

  • The colors, inside and out.
  • The big yard, some of which is in the sun, some in the shade, space even for a woodland bit, veggies, herbs, entry, and similar.
  • The ICEMAKER, the dishwasher, the better washer and dryer.
  • My master bath.
  • My closets. Shelving. LIGHTS in the closets. Tons of storage.
  • The FLOORS (no carpet!!)
  • The location.
  • The kitchen island.
  • Watching my dogs run around the back yard.
  • The covered, off-street parking.
  • The light fixtures.
  • That my piano fits perfectly in a little nook in the sunroom.
  • The view of the tidal creek that runs behind the house.
  • The deck.
  • All the windows and glass doors.

Mississippi Resident!!!

We are officially Mississippi residents! We moved into the new house January 5th. On November 28th, we came over to Ocean Springs to look at places to rent since I hadn't seen anything I was interested in buying. We were also not finding anything in our budget to rent that would allow dogs, and both Jason and I were honestly starting to panic a little.

So in a freezing, drizzly, post-Thanksgiving stupor, we met our realtor to look at rentals. The first two rentals = not. Expensive, not the greatest locations, marginally suited yards. Then the realtor said "while we are over here, I want to run in and look at this house new on the market. The other realtors have seen it already and said it was great, and I need to see it. You may not even want to get out of the car."

Well, we got out of the car, walked through it once, and bought it.

We love it. LOVE it. It's the only house Jason and I have ever looked at that we both loved.

On the way to the realtor's office to write the offer, Jason said "it's like we picked up Tulip Street, upgraded everything, and plopped it down in a yard by the beach." And it IS just like that, only even better. There's more space but it's not TOO much. There is a big yard but not TOO big. It's absolutely perfect for us.

And yep.....it's a triangle house :) See! I KNEW I needed a triangle house!

Part of me is missing.

Most life-altering, we lost our little buddy, Schaffer. AKA The Bean, Bean-o, Bean-o Supreme-o, the Original D.O.G. I got Schaffer when he was 6 weeks old and fit in the palm of my hand. He was 6 months old when I met Jason. Jason has always said he married me for my dog. In the last year, he had deteriorated but still had happy, spunky moments. He got super sick Wednesday, December 29. His fever stayed above 106, up to 106.8 until around noon on Friday, when after talking to four vets, we made the decision to let him go. That's as much as I'm ready to discuss it right now. I miss him. A lot.
