A conversation re: New Orleans coffee

One of my prior "new examiners" is in a New Orleans credit union for the first time.  I'm going to work with him there next week, but just a while ago he sent me the following message:
Doogie  1:07 PM
oh god. this CU's coffee tastes like old slim jims.
i realize "old" slim jims is redundant
Pickens, Sonya K 1:07 PM
that is not good
what kind is it?!
Doogie  1:07 PM
i don't know. vomit?
Pickens, Sonya K 1:09 PM
Doogie 1:10 PM
i can't describe it other than vomit. maybe there's tobasco in it.
Pickens, Sonya K 1:12 PM
you have to ask what kind it is now I have to know
I wonder if it's chicory and you are just not used to that
Doogie  1:13 PM
i can definitely tell you it's not community. but then again i've never had community with tobasco in it
Pickens, Sonya K 1:13 PM
you are killing me
Doogie  1:14 PM
wait until you try this coffee.

Dog Stack

My coworker shared with me this picture of his yorkiepoo puppy and his mini schnauzer.  He says the yorkiepoo is constantly sitting on the mini.  It cracked me up, so I thought I'd share with you, my tens of readers!

Gelli Plate Schnauzers

I've been playing with my Gelli Plate, well.....obsessively.  I have purchased about 8,000,000 stencils and a ton of paint. Plus I am using up paint that I have LITERALLY had since college.  Then I bought a heat tool and plastic to make my own stencils.   I am having an absolute BLAST.  Here's the current stack of prints in process:

Yes I know, obsessive.  So now I have forced myself to stop making new ones, and DO something with the ones I already made.

I did a couple of journal pages using some, and I will continue to do that a bunch.  Some I just love as they are; I'll stick those in a journal too.  But I had some REAL fun last night and cut a new stencil.

It's my Greta!  I used a drawing I did of her a while back.  I cut the stencil out for the first time over the weekend.  It was my first more "complicated" stencil, and I learned a LOT.  #1 - my heat gun is too hot!  It warped the plastic pretty bad, making it hard to get a clean image through the stencil.

Fortunately I am an art supply hoarder, so I have a heat regulator thingy that I use with my soldering iron for stained glass work.  It worked just fine with the heat tool, and I was able to cut a much better stencil.

I love the result!  FUN, right?!  My baby girl on some of my favorite prints!

I am having way too much fun with this Gelli Plate. I think I have convinced friends to buy at least 10 of them, so I'm thinking Gelli Arts may want to go ahead and send me a commission check?

Finished 1st Smash book/ Junk Journal

"Junque Journal" if you're fancy.

This one is for my Mom to use.  She has taken the bold step to rent a cottage down here on the coast near my brother and me.

I'd just like to point out that she's way closer to ME.  I can ride my bike to her house.  So, not that it's a contest or anything, but that means I WIN.  It has nothing to do with the fact that my brother lives in BFE and there ARE no cottages out there.  I still win.

I have been wanting to do a journal like this and play around with making some mini-albums, and this was the perfect opportunity. I used a ton of stuff I had laying around like old franklin covey pages, gelli print pages, post its, and random cardstock and printed papers.

I made the journal using the ARC system from Staples.  I have the hole punch.  It was a GREAT investment.  I use it like crazy.  This lets me avoid having to actually learn how to do a book binding, and let's face it, I'm lazy.  Another great thing about the ARC system is that you can add whatever pages you want or need, or you can move stuff around.

I tried to put in lots of fun stuff like a pocket inside the front cover with some index cards where she can let her guests write her a note about their visit.  Then there are some post-it flags, and a long brown envelope for receipts or whatever.

Next is page with paper that I love - birds on a wire - which holds a flower attached to a little mini book that fits in a pocket in the middle of the birds on a wire.

The little book includes places for 4 pictures on one side, and journaling on the other.

Another little book has 8 pages, each with a little pocket. This one was super fun and easy - all made with one sheet of 12x12 paper!  It fits inside it's own pocket - the one with the bird "post card".

The yellow and blue gelli printed paper is also a pocket which holds a large tag with room for a large picture on the front and journaling on the back.

Another gelli print covers the back inside cover.

There is lots of room to stick things in an expand.  I hope you'll have fun stashing junk from all the cool things you do down here, my sweet Mommy!

Spinning thing!

My Mom totally judged me today for spending money on this lazy susan (a whopping $15), but now much more of my junk is right at my fingertips! I love it!!!
